• It’s calmer. Fewer crowds on the beach and the paths. If you’re after a genuine reset, this is it.
• It’s cheaper. Off-season weeks are $900 mid-week or $800 weekend — roughly half of peak-season pricing.
• The cottage shines. Cool mornings are made for the indoor fireplace, a full kitchen, and the covered deck with coffee in hand.

What to pack differently

Bring layers, a warm hoodie for the evenings, and a couple of rainy-day plans. A few guests love bringing analogue activities — board games, cards, a puzzle — for a proper no-screens weekend. Everything on our packing checklist still applies; just add the cozy stuff.

Warm water lingers into September, the crowds thin out, and fall colour arrives in the Niagara region. Ideal for couples and anyone who wants the quiet version of Sherkston.
